Considering Nagoya is famous for its chicken wings, we decided to check out GABURI CHICKEN.
Sounds a bit funky, right?
Well, you have NO IDEA until you check out their COOL logo…
It even features bang in the middle of their glasses.
The type you drink from.
Obviously.
🍺 DRINKS
If you’re on a budget, the highballs here are HALF PRICE if you have their APP installed [JIM BEAM HIGHBALLS = 195 YEN!!?] – and they were even kind enough to let us slightly bastardise the deal by swapping the usual drink for gin.
Same price.
Sorted.
Basically, if you’re in the mood to get completely trainwrecked tonight while operating on a tight budget…
THIS IS THE PLACE.
They have plenty of other cheap drinks too – beers, various highballs and things that will eventually make you question some of your life choices.

🍗 FOOD
Well, before we get into the menu at all, the drinks came with SALZSHLANGERS! Uh. Salty-sticks… I’ve had them in Germany, and they’re absolutely fantastic!

As to the ‘real menu’? Well, naturally, there’s plenty of chicken.

There are also a few “vegetarian” options.

Like this cucumber chopped up with a bit of zingy spice.
And this…
…cabbage.
Rabbits love this place.
Oh, and there were some other vegetables too.
The FRIED POTATO variety. Yummy.

The chicken wings were actually pretty damn good, although I thought the chicken itself in the chicken nanban (fried chicken with tartar sauce) was even better.

Unfortunately, the sauce didn’t have that slight sweetness that you can experience at Tori Tori Tei, so this was probably our least favourite thing on the menu.
The yakitori selection was also a little bare, so if you’re specifically hunting for negima, you’re probably going to have to go elsewhere.
🚽 AND THEN THERE WAS THE TOILET…
Oh, and one more thing.
You HAVE to go to the toilet.
Not because you need to use it.
Because GABURI CHICKEN HAS A BANGING THEME SONG.
I went in, heard it playing, and genuinely couldn’t leave.
It was far too catchy.
Eventually I escaped and told Ms. H: “You HAVE to go in there.”
She went in.
…
She didn’t want to come back out.
At this point we’re fairly sure the toilet is actually part of the entertainment.
🍻 THE VERDICT
Cheap drinks?
YES.
Snacky chicken food?
YES.
Somewhere to take your mates and gradually become less capable of making sensible decisions?
ABSOLUTELY.
Four of us ate, drank and generally behaved like we had no responsibilities whatsoever, and the bill came to around ¥7,500.
Good food.
Cheap drinks.
Amazing staff.
And nobody had to sell a kidney.
GABURI CHICKEN: APPROVED.
